Magdalena

The Magdalena region is located in Baja California below the Vizcaino region. The two regions appear similar but the species are somewhat different. The area receives very little rainfall, which occurs during the summer. Plant life in the area consists of trees, succulent shrubs, and cacti. The Magdalena is home to the Creeping Devil Cactus, an unusual endemic plant. There are many types of wildlife in the coastal area including sea turtles, whales, and the endangered brown pelican. The Magdalena region, along with the greater region of Baja California, is an important site for research and conservation efforts. Many endangered species can be found in this area.
